Hey Stella, fun to see you here. Yes, definitely, especially if it's an opinion piece with a strong first-person voice. In my experience, you should just be prepared to shop around a bit more before landing a publication, since you didn't give them a chance to tweak your pitch. I also recommend condensing the article down to a pitch in the body of your email, mentioning that the full draft is attached. Anything that makes things easier on the editor will work in your favor!

Hahahaha we don't write for MONEY. We write for LOVE. The thing is, the literary kind is still more satisfying to publish, despite those caveats!
