In my experience, you should just be prepared to shop around a bit more before landing a publication, since you didn't give them a chance to tweak your pitch. I also recommend condensing the article down to a pitch in the body of your email, mentioning that the full draft is attached. Anything that makes things easier on the editor will work in your favor!
